Pelvic Floor Health

Pelvic Health

Pelvic health is a constant yet evolving part of a woman's life, going through many changes through the different phases. Bettering quality of life by improving mobility, strengthening, and addressing pain management. At Resiliency we are bridging the gap between chiropractic care and physical therapy in order to provide holistic care to the women in our community. We want to normalize laughing without peeing, having sex without pain, and wearing all the colors of the rainbow and not just the ones that cover up accidents.

What is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?

Pelvic floor PT is a specialized treatment for problems related to the pelvic floor such as incontinence, pain, and/or prolapse. Each patient’s plan of care is customized to them in order to match their goals, relieve symptoms, and improve quality of life.

The pelvic floor:

Everyone has a pelvic floor. It is comprised of the muscles that support you structurally, help control bowel and bladder, and specifically in women it supports vaginal delivery and assist with blood flow to the region during sex.

Pelvic floor Dysfunction:

Having increased weakness, too much tone, and/or poor coordination of the 14 muscles that make up the pelvic floor can cause pelvic floor dysfunction. This includes, but is not limited to:

-          Leaking (incontinence), having to go immediately, or going frequently

-          Difficulty having bowel movements due to constipation and pain

-          Pelvic pain

-          Prolapse

-          Prenatal and postpartum care

What to expect at pelvic PT:

Evaluation: $150

PT will perform an assessment comprised of an orthopedic examination as well as an internal exam and create a treatment plan based on the client's goals.

Follow-up treatment: $125

Treatments will be specifically tailored to the client's plan of care with the use of exercises, manual therapy, and pelvic floor therapy devices.

Note: Internal assessment and treatment may be beneficial, but are not necessary. Your boundaries are important to your provider.
